The HP Courts

Thanks Martyn on the question about the USTA grants to help resurface courts, we will apply, but will look to those that could truly make a difference in the courts rebuilding and maintenance the years to come.  We are now in the planning stages for a YTA site to call our home site without any outside interference governing our programming.  I will keep you in the loop.

Who Will Help Get The Courts Resurfaced?

With a little absence from the court YTA will now look forward to rebuilding and getting things back before Coach White was transferred to U.C. Berkeley (Bear Tax).

What would Arthur Say?

With Azaria not asked to play in the winter for the winter championships and moved from her #4 position because a new ranking system the powers that be or as many call them the "Gate Keepers" decided this rule would be used for the 2013 selection of juniors instead of 2014.  We will stay calm and this year go for the # 1 spot, we know that's what Arthur would do.

Here is something I'm sure everyone did not know.  That there was a movie with Barry McKay made at Hunters Point.  How cool is that?

Site Up And Running

Happy to report the juniors are busy at it trying to show who is better than who.  As soon as this is out of their system we will began the long journey down that road that is life skills on the court and off.  This is indeed a good rebirth of Hunters Point tennis in the Bay View community of San Francisco.

HP FOREVER

Things are going as planned.

Great first day at HP, we even picked veggies from the garden.  How cool was that.

Rich, the site was Richer with him around.

I do not know if we will be able to get the help of my friend and mentor Rich who help with the site back in the day, but if he returns the site will surly be one that the community of Hunters Point will be proud of.

Hunters Point Own On SF City College Tennis Team

Hunters Point own YTA Berlyn Maloa returns to college and makes tennis team, how proud are we.  What ever she needs we will be there.

The Reopening of Hunters Point

Great opportunity for YTA to reopen the Hunters Point site in the Bay View section of San Francisco.  Having worked there for 11 years I was indeed surprised to not be included in anyway the plans for the site.  I did respond when called to cover the site as plans did not go as planned, go figure?

Hunters Point Tyronda Starks

Received news that Tyronda Starks is now teaching in Atlanta, Ga.  While working on her grad work at Strayer Univ. she finds time to put her PTR Certification to instruct 10 and under.  We are so proud and will continue to keep track of her progress.

Its great to hear that another junior is doing in college (Virginia State Univ.) we are keeping our eyes on you.

Shane

Great day today, say Shane a Hunters Point junior who is working as security with the Safeway stores.  It was great seeing a junior for the Bayview area doing well and not in a bad situation in his life.  We talked and gave him my number to always be in contact.
